The Southern Hills Intensive
Outpatient Program (IOP) provides an intense, structured treatment program for
individuals experiencing difficulty in their lives due to chemical dependency.
The IOP provides an alternative to residential treatment for individuals needing
an intensive treatment program but who can’t be away from work, school, or
family commitments. The IOP provides a variety of treatment programs which
includes a counseling and educational activities for at least nine hours a week.
IOP services can include group, individual, or family therapy, case management,
substance abuse education on wellness and recovery as well as support groups
such as AA or NA. After the initial minimum four-week program, the length of
time involved in IOP services is based on consumer need. Services can be
provided in a variety of settings including the therapy office, the consumer’s
home, and community locations to make the IOP accessible to the consumer and to
encourage involvement and success.
