Southern Hills Counseling Center
provides a full range of substance abuse services. These include 24-hour
emergency crisis intervention, individual therapy, case management, outpatient
treatment, detox services, residential services, family support services,
medication evaluation and monitoring, and the prevention of unnecessary
services. These services are provided through a network composed of all the
facilities operated by Southern Hills Counseling Center, the substance abuse
inpatient program of Jasper Memorial Hospital, and the Stepping Stones
residential program operated by Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare.
The primary goal receiving alcohol and drug treatment is abstinence or at least
the reduction of the abuse of alcohol or other drugs. The program also works
with the court programs to reduce repeat offenses and to provide consumers with
information about the extent and scope of their problems and available treatment
resources.
Southern Hills provides substance abuse services to adolescents, adults, and
older adults. When an individual comes in for treatment, he/she is interviewed
by a therapist who completes an evaluative interview, an initial assessment, and
medical information summary. The consumer completes a self-assessment to provide
a general history and substance use history.
